Russia to supply Turkey with regimental S-400 sets in 2019
Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 25
Russia will supply Turkey with the Triumph S-400 regimental anti-aircraft missile sets in October 2019, a military diplomatic source told TASS Oct. 25.
“The deadlines are very tight, taking into account the simultaneously performed work to manufacture components of the second S-400 regimental set for China,” the source added.
The agency’s source noted that the contract is related to supply and does not provide for licensed production of S-400 in Turkish enterprises.
"The contract for S-400 is purely supply-oriented, it does not contain a provision for technology transfer or licensed production in Turkey. The equipment will be delivered ready-made," the source said.
In addition, the systems will be equipped with friend-or-foe interrogator/responder made in Russia in accordance with NATO standards, which will ensure their interfacing with the NATO air defense system.
Earlier on Oct. 25, the Minister of National Defense of Turkey Hulusi Akar said the deployment of Russian anti-aircraft missile systems, S-400, in Turkey will begin in October 2019 and Ankara has already begun to recruit military men to service the systems.
