Georgia increases import of grains and legumes from Turkey

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 28

The export of grains and legumes from Turkey to Georgia increased by 3.69 percent from January through July 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, amounting to $17.5 million, the Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend on Aug. 28.

At the same time, the export of grains and legumes from Turkey to Georgia decreased by 12.96 percent in July 2020 compared to July 2019 and amounted to $2.2 million.

The export of grains and legumes from Turkey to the world markets increased by 7.2 percent from January through July 2020 compared to the same period of last year, amounting to $4.06 billion.

The export of grains and legumes accounted for 4.5 percent of the country's total export volume during the reporting period.

Turkey exported grains and legumes worth $590.5 million to the world markets in July 2020, which is 8.1 percent more than in the same month of 2019.

The export of grains and legumes in July 2020 accounted for 3.9 percent of the country's total export volume.

Over the past 12 months (July 2019 - July 2020), Turkey exported grains and legumes worth $7.06 billion.
