Volume of cargo runs from Ukraine through Turkish ports announced

The volume of cargo transshipment from Ukraine via the ports of Turkey exceeded 7.5 million tons in the past seven months of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Sept. 8.

According to the ministry, over the reporting period, 771,551 tons of cargo were handled from Ukraine via Turkey’s ports by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 6.4 million by ships flying the flags of other countries. As many as 373,093 tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Ukrainian flag.

Meanwhile, over 1.9 million tons of cargo were transited from Ukraine via the Turkish ports, the ministry said.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 209.8 million tons from January through July 2020.

Over the mentioned period, ships flying the Turkish flag shipped over 16.9 million tons of goods.

In the first seven months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags made up 8 million tons, while by ships flying the flags of other countries – 184.8 million tons, the ministry said.

During this period, more than 41.8 million tons of cargo were handled in transit through the ports of Turkey.

As reported, in July 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 30.2 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transported over 2.6 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transshipment via the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 26.5 million tons.

Over 5.6 million tons of goods were transshipped in transit through the Turkish ports in July 2020.
