Turkey records decline in volume of Trabzon Airport's cargo, passenger traffic

As many as 15,488 tons of cargo were transported via Turkey’s Trabzon Airport from January through October 2020, down by 51 percent compared to the same period of 2019, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the country’s domestic flights transported 14,038 tons of cargo, showing a 43-percent drop over the year.

At the same time 1,450 tons of cargo were transported through the Trabzon Airport by international flights, having plunged by 79 percent year-on-year, the ministry said.

The airport served over 1.5 million passengers during the past ten months of this year, which is 52 percent less than in the same period of last year.

Slightly over 1.5 million passengers were served on domestic flights over this period, while a year earlier this indicator was 47 percent more.

From January through October 2020, 51,137 passengers were served on international flights, which is 85 percent less compared to the same months of last year.

Meanwhile, 12,301 flights were carried out through Trabzon Airport, which is 45 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

During this period, 11,137 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is 39 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

International flights via Ankara Trabzon Airport slumped by 71 percent over the year, amounting to 1,164 flights.

From January through October 2020, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 45.9 percent and amounted to 722,084 flights. Meanwhile, over 70.5 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

In the reporting period, more than 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports in the country.
