Volume of Jan. 2021 cargo shipment from Romania via Turkish ports disclosed

The volume of transshipment of goods from Romania across the ports of Turkey made up 468,255 tons in January 2021, the country’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Mar.4.

According to the ministry, in the reporting month, the volume of cargo shipment from Romania by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 79,122 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 389,133 tons.

Meanwhile, no cargo was handled by ships flying the Romanian flag via Turkish ports, and 122,402 tons of cargo from Romania were transited through the ports.

In January 2021, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to over 29.1 million tons, including more than 2.5 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag.

During the reporting month, 6.04 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

Besides, according to the ministry, in 2020, the volume of cargo movement through the Turkish ports amounted to 365.4 million tons. Some 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying Turkish flag, and 335.7 million tons – by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Over the past year, more than 72.4 million tons of cargo had been transited through the ports of Turkey, added the ministry.
