Turkey reveals volume of cargo shipment via local ports from Israel

The volume of transshipment of goods from Israel via Turkish ports made up over 2.9 million tons in the first 2 months of 2021, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Mar.29.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo shipment from Israel via the ports of Turkey by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 248,050 tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – more than 2.6 million tons.

At the same time, ships flying the Israeli flag transported 49,272 tons of cargo through the mentioned ports.

During the reporting period, the volume of transshipment of goods in transit from Israel through the ports of Turkey amounted to 164,439 tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 58.3 million tons in the first two months of 2021.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 4.7 million tons.

From January through February of this year, more than 53.5 million tons of cargo have been handled by ships flying the flags of other countries, added the ministry.

Meanwhile, 11.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In February 2021, 29.6 million tons of cargo were handled through the ports, including 2.2 million tons by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 26.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries.

Besides, more than 5.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey in the reporting month, added the ministry.
