Number of Turkish labor migrants to Azerbaijan plunges in 1Q2021

The number of job seekers from Turkey in Azerbaijan has notably decreased in the first quarter of 2021, the Turkish Employment Agency (ISKUR) told Trend.

Over the reporting period, the number of Turkish citizens who visited Azerbaijan through the agency to find work plunged by 90.9 percent compared to 1Q2020.

In total, 9 Turkish citizens visited the country via ISKUR over the period from January through March 2021.

Totally, 2,678 Turkish citizens went abroad via the agency, which is 34.3 percent less than from January through March of last year.

In March 2021, 91,267 citizens were provided jobs through this agency in Turkey. Some 31.7 percent of the total number of employed citizens accounted for women and 68.3 percent for men.

Over the reporting month, 98.9 percent of the total number of citizens provided with jobs accounted for the private sector. The number of unemployed in Turkey made up slightly more than 2.6 million people, 47.4 percent of whom are women, and 52.6 percent are men.
