The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) is interested in expanding activity in the Mediterranean Sea, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend on July 9.
“TPAO applied to the ministry to obtain a license to conduct exploration work in the area including three potential hydrocarbon deposits as part of expanding its activity,” the source in the ministry said.
A law, allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks, came into force in Turkey in April 2014.
