Turkey announces timing for completion of local oil, gas pipelines' upgrade (Exclusive)

The modernization of oil and gas pipelines in all provinces of Turkey, which began in 2007, will be completed in 2024, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend.

According to the ministry, the total cost of the modernization project will be 2.53 billion Turkish liras ($290 million).

"Last year, $1 billion was allocated for the modernization of oil and gas pipelines, and by the end of 2021, 811 million Turkish liras ($93.8 million) will be spent for these purposes," the ministry said.

As earlier reported, till late 2021, Turkish Botas company intends to implement 15 energy projects. Some 6.1 billion Turkish liras ($699.1 million) will be allocated for their implementation.

Some 2.2 billion Turkish liras ($252.1 million) out of 6.1 billion Turkish liras ($699.1 million) allocated in Turkey for the implementation of energy projects this year, will account for foreign loans.

Botas allocated 14.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.7 billion) for the implementation of energy projects in 2020, of which almost 9.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion) accounted for foreign loans.

Turkey's expenditures on the implementation of energy projects as of 2021 will amount to 16.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion), while last year this figure was 44.5 billion Turkish liras ($5.1 billion).

Some 125 energy projects will be implemented in Turkey by the end of this year. The foreign loans in the amount of 3.1 billion Turkish liras ($358.9 million) will be issued for the implementation of energy projects.

Some 16.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion) out of 44.5 billion Turkish liras ($5.1 billion) allocated in Turkey for the implementation of energy projects in 2020 accounted for the foreign loans.
