Turkey records rise in 7M2021 cargo, passenger traffic at Sabiha Gokcen Airport

The cargo turnover at Turkey's Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport from January through July 2021 increased, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, this indicator amounted to 128,345 tons, up by 26 percent on annual basis.

During the reporting period, cargo turnover on domestic flights via the airport reached 66,018 tons (increase of 53 percent compared to the period from January through July 2020) while on international flights – 62,327 tons (rise of six percent).

Meanwhile, passenger traffic at the airport made up over 11.8 million, which is by 35 percent more than in the first seven months of last year. Almost 8.2 million passengers were served on domestic flights (43-percent increase), while 3.6 million passengers - on international flights (19-percent growth).

The ministry also said that the number of flights from January through July 2021 was 89,678, which is by 43 percent more than in the same period of 2020.

Meanwhile, 58,023 domestic flights (increase by 46 percent) and 31,655 - international flights (rise by 37 percent) were made.

Over 57.3 million passengers and 1.7 million cargo have been transported through all Turkish airports from January through July 2021, added the ministry.
