Turkey publishes data on cargo traffic via Izmir port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 25

Over 3.99 million tons of cargo were transported via Turkey’s Izmir port in the first seven months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, 241,581 tons of cargo were handled through the port by ships flying the flag of Turkey, and more than 3.75 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries to Turkish ports.

Meanwhile, 22 tons of cargo were shipped in transit via Izmir port, added the ministry.

From January through July 2021, over 219.5 million tons of goods have been transshipped through the Turkish ports, 17.5 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag, and more than 201.9 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

More than 43.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in the first seven months of this year.

Furthermore, nearly 31.3 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in July 2021.

In the same month, around 2.2 million tons of cargo were transported to the domestic ports via ships flying the Turkish flag while via ships flying the flags of other countries – 29.1 million tons.

Meanwhile, over 6.6 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports.
