The cargo turnover of Ankara Esenboga Airport from January through August 2021 grew, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend on Sept.10.
According to the ministry, this indicator amounted to 47,911 tons which is growth of 19 percent on annual basis.
During this period, cargo turnover on domestic flights amounted to 33,129 tons (increase of 31 percent on annual basis), and on international – 14,782 tons (rise of one percent), the ministry said.
"At the same time, the passenger traffic at the airport amounted to 4.2 million people, which is a growth of 15 percent on annual basis. The passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 3.5 million people (growth by 14 percent), on international – 722,018 people (increase by 22 percent)," the ministry’s report said.
According to the report, the number of flights performed in the first eight months of this year was 40,687, which is 21 percent more compared to the same period of 2020. At the same time, the number of flights operated on domestic routes was 20,835 (increase of 21 percent), on international lines – 7,896 (increase of 22 percent).
The passenger traffic at all airports of Turkey in the reporting period exceeded 75.5 million people, and the turnover of goods – 2.09 million tons.
