BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. Ports of Turkey handled 328,564 tons of cargo from Japan from January through May 2022, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag delivered 457 tons of cargo from Japan to local ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries - 324,564 tons.
Ships flying the Japanese flag delivered 3,539 tons of cargo to Turkish ports during this period.
Turkish ports handled 46 tons of transit cargo from Japan from January through May 2022.
Totally, Turkish ports handled 33.4 million tons of cargo in May 2022.
Cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye through local ports amounted to 2.3 million tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to 31.07 million tons in the reporting month.
At the same time, 7.5 million tons of cargo were transited through Turkish ports.
From January through May 2022, Turkish ports handled 164.2 million tons of cargo.
Cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 11.4 million tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries - 152.8 million tons.
Turkish ports handled 35.2 million tons of transit cargo from January through May 2022.
The ports of Türkiye handled 386.3 million tons of cargo in 2021.
Cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 29.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries -356.3 million tons last year.
Besides, 78 million tons of the cargo were transited through Turkish ports.
