BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. Approximately 2.4 million tons of cargo were transported from Greece to Türkiye's ports from January through February 2024, the data of Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
Additionally, it was noted that Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 199,451 tons of cargo to the ports from Greece, while vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 2.1 million tons.
During this period, Greek-flagged vessels delivered 93,510 tons of cargo to Türkiye's ports. A total of 883,278 tons of transit cargo were transported to Türkiye's ports from Greece from January through February 2024.
Meanwhile, Türkiye's ports received 32.7 million tons of cargo in February 2024.
The cargo traffic to the inland ports of Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.3 million tons during this period.
Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 1.2 million tons.
Moreover, a total of 5.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in February 2024.
According to the report, Turkish ports received 66 million tons of cargo from January through February 2023.
"The cargo traffic of Turkish-flagged vessels from January through February 2024 totaled 4.7 million tons. Meanwhile, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 61.2 million tons," the report emphasizes.
However, it was mentioned that from January through February 2023, 11.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.
To note, the ports of Türkiye received 4,531 vessels in February this year.
Information shows that during this period, the number of vessels accepted in the ports of Türkiye under the flags of other countries amounted to 437,000, and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 3,094.
Türkiye's ports received 8,883 vessels from January through February 2024.
During this period, the number of foreign-flagged vessels accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 6,047, and the number of Turkish-flagged vessels was 2,836.
