( Cihan ) - A building collapsed in a crowded quarter on the European side of Istanbul. No casualties have been reported so far.

Initial reports said the two-storey building, located in the Beyoglu district of the city, was empty when it fell down following heavy rain.

Beyoglu mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan told reporters that municipal officials evacuated and sealed the building a fortnight ago.

One person, reportedly a man, was slightly injured as the building came down and taken to a nearby hospital.

On Thursday last week, a six-storey building collapsed in Istanbul, but most residents were evacuated before it went down. One man who was caught under the rubble was later rescued.
