Azerbaijan-Russia trade turnover reaches historic maximum

The trade turnover volume between Azerbaijan and Russia reached a record index of $ 3.6 billion, co-chairman of the Azerbaijani-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said in Baku Sept. 15, RIA Novosti reported.

The fourteenth meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation is being held in Baku.

"As of late 2013, despite the recent situation on the world markets, the trade turnover between the two countries reached a historic maximum of $ 3.6 billion," Rogozin said at the opening of the meeting. "This means a 5 percent growth compared to 2012."

Last time the commission held a meeting was in the capital of Russia on March 18, 2011. The commission's activity was restored after a meeting of its co-chairmen - Rogozin and Eyyubov in Moscow August 20, 2014.

Russia is the main trade partner of Azerbaijan in the CIS. It also ranks first among the countries importing from Azerbaijan.

Currently, there are 570 companies with Russian capital in Azerbaijan. Russia has recently invested $628.4 million in Azerbaijan's fixed capital. But Azerbaijan's investments in the Russian economy for 10 years amounted to nearly $1 billion.
