Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18
Trend:
Photos proving the ties of congressman Chris Smith with the Armenian lobby have been posted on his website.
Smith is captured on these photos taking part in the events related to the centennial of the so-called Armenian genocide.
The proof of congressman Chris Smith's ties with the Armenian lobby in the US has been also posted in the social network Twitter on the official webpage of the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).
One of the ANCA leaders Aram Hamparian has posted a photo from the meeting with congressman Smith on the organization's webpage, once again confirming the information about his relations with the Armenian lobby in the US.
Smith is the initiator of the anti-Azerbaijani bill submitted to the US Congress by Helsinki Commission headed by him.
The US Helsinki Commission earlier presented an anti-Azerbaijani bill to the Congress.
Azerbaijani foreign ministry's spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev told Trend Dec.17 that the bill submitted to the US Congress by the Helsinki Commission, acting under Chris Smith's chairmanship, is anti-Azerbaijani in nature and is unacceptable.
Hajiyev said there is no doubt that the bill, aimed against Azerbaijan, was prepared by the Armenian lobby in the US on the eve of congressional election.
"Such steps may also adversely affect the image of the US among the public of Azerbaijan," noted Hajiyev.
