Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has extended condolences to Italian President Sergio Mattarella over the recent passenger train crash in the south of Italy.
“I was deeply saddened by the news of a heavy loss of life as a result of the passenger train crash in the south of your country,” said President Aliyev in his letter of condolence. “On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who died and the people of Italy, and wish the injured the swiftest possible recovery.”
President Aliyev also offered condolences to Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi over the tragedy.
