During the action of the Azadlig block on 9 October 2005 at the Nizami, Nasimi, Hagani and Rashid Beybutov, the Gyanjlic square, the Fountain square and other venues, over 360 oppositionists were detained, over 300 persons were subject to violence and got various body injuries, the head of the electoral headquarters of the Azadlig block Fahmin Hadjiyev told Trend. Even after the action’s completion the policemen continued to exert pressure on the action’s participants, the casual passers-by also suffered, as well as 10 reporters. From 360 action’s participants detained by the police over 200 persons have been warned and released, about 30 people have been fined and also released, 13 persons were arrested and convicted to various terms of imprisonment.
