Iran will start to deliver a restricted amount of gas to Iraq in two months, Shana news agency quoted the Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company Hamidreza Araqi as saying on Feb.2.

Araqi said the gas volume will increase in the future. He added that initially Iran would supply Baghdad with 7 million cubic meters of gas per day for 9 months.

"In the beginning of 2017 the delivery volume would reach 14 mcm/d, then the figure would raise to 25 mcm/d based on agreement," he said.

Iran and Iraq signed an 6-year agreement in 2013, which allows Tehran to export 25 mcm/d of gas to Iraq.

Iran also has another contract to deliver the same amount of gas to Iraq's Basra.
