The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) suspended gas supply to the Georgian Kopetnary and Eurogaz for increase of demand in oil product at the internal market of the country, the SOCAR told Trend.

The SOCAR planned to ship 1.500 tons of liquefied gas to Kopetnary and Eurogaz, but have transported only 210 tons of oil products so far. “The internal market is prior for us.

We must satisfy increasing demand in oil products in Azerbaijan, but it is not excluded that we might ship a pair of tanks to Georgia in accordance with the contact,” the SOCAR said.

In January-June 2005 the SOCAR shipped 6.700 tons of liquefied gas, or 2.6 ton more than in 2004. The volume of the export in June comprised 2.800 tons of butane, or 900 ton more than in May.

The liquefied gas is sold by the SOCAR and manufactured at the catalytic cracking of the Heydar Aliyev oil refiner plant, former Azernefyanajag.
