SOCAR to drill 5-th advance well from N18-87 platform at “Oily Rocks” oil field

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to start drilling of the 5-th advance well from the stationary off-shore platform N18-87 mounted on the Azerbaijan’s off-shore field “Neft Dashlari” (Oily Rocks) till the year-end, SOCAR told Trend. The well’s design will be up to 2000 meters. 4 wells have been drilled already from the N18-87 platform out of 36 planned. Over 120 tons of oil a day is planned to produce (over 43,000 tons a year) from 4 wells.

Commissioning of the stationary off-shore drilling platform N18-87 is scheduled for the first quarter of 2006.

Construction of this platform will enable to increase the oil production on Neft Dashlari up to 2450 tons daily (over 890,000 tons a year) from the current 2300 tons (840,000 tons a year). The wells will be laid during 4-5 years. To some estimates, the cost of the platform construction is up to $30 million.
