Kazakhstan, Astana, Jan. 31 / Trend L. Podolyak /
The Uzbek State Joint Stock Company, Uzbekenergo and Kyrgyz National Electric Network have urged Kazakhstan not to leave the Central Asia united energy system, chairman of the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) board, Bakytzhan Kazhiev said.
At present, the Kazakh Unified Energy System operates in parallel with the Russian Unified Energy System and Unified Energy System of Central Asia. The surplus hit 700 MW because the Uzbek energy system works without a balance. This threatens the separation of southern Kazakhstan from the Kazakh Unified Energy System.
"The same situation took place in December, you can recall," he said. "In this regard we have initiated the separation from the Unified Energy System of Central Asia as a possible way out of this situation."
At present, the heads of KEGOC, Uzbekenergo and the Kyrgyz National Electric Network are in Uzbekistan to resolve the situation. According to information received, Uzbekenergo and Kyrgyz National Electric Network urged Kazakhstan not to separate because this will have great consequences relating to the limitation of the number of their customers. This issue is currently being resolved.
