Georgia will start construction of "Nenskra" Hydro Power Plant in the spring of 2015.
The decision on the construction of the HPP was adopted at the Economic Council of the country, the meeting of which was held on July 10 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the press-service of the Georgian government told Trend.
The investment cost of the "Nenskra" HPP construction project is estimated at $570 million. The installed capacity of the HPP will be 210 megawatts.
It was noted at the government meeting that the construction of the "Nenskra" HPP aims to reduce the current electricity shortage in the domestic market of Georgia observed in the autumn and winter periods, the report said.
It is planned to complete the construction of the new hydropower plant in late 2020.
