Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 June / Trend E. Ismailov /
SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) daily transports 1-1.2 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia, a source at SOCAR told Trend on Friday.
Earlier, SOCAR gas supplies to Georgia have been suspended at the request of the Georgian side.
According to the source, the company's gas supply has recovered and is being carried out normally.
"The Georgian side is currently experiencing a demand for gas and therefore its deliveries to the neighbouring country are carried out as normal. Now the figure stands at 1-1.2 million cubic meters," the source said.
SOCAR supplies its own gas to Georgia in the framework of its activities on the Georgian market through a pipeline linking the two countries in the Gazakh district of Azerbaijan. Power flow of gas through this pipeline totals nearly three billion cubic meters per year.
The company operates gas distribution networks covering different regions of Georgia through SOCAR Georgia Gas.
Also according to the source, gas supplies to Iran are being continued and carried out under the swap transactions. The figure is currently 1.2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Azerbaijan and Iran are connected through the Gazi-Magomed-Astara-Bind-Biand pipeline to a length of 1474.5 kilometres, including 296.5 kilometres across Azerbaijan. This route is a branch of the Gazakh-Astara-Iran pipeline that was put into operation in 1971. Three compressor stations were built along this route in Gazi-Magomed, Agdash and Gazakh. The pipeline's diameter is 1200 mm.
