The Astara thermal power station generated about 2.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity from its commissioning in 2006 to March 1, 2014, Azerenergy (generation and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) said on March 27.
The Astara thermal power station is important in the energy supply of the southern region of Azerbaijan.
The station generated 43.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity in January-February. This figure amounted to 259.1 million kilowatt hours in 2013, according to the report.
The capacity of the Astara thermal power plant is 87 MW.
The capacity of power plants owned by the joint stock company Azerenergy exceeds 6,000 megawatts. The company has over 200 substations with capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kV amp, as well as eight hydroelectric plants and 13 thermal power plants.
