Some 7 billion liters of oil products consumed in Tehran over 10 months

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Some 7 billion liters of oil products, including gasoline, gas oil, fuel oil, and kerosene, were consumed in Iran's capital Tehran over 10 months.

Morteza Abedini, Director of Tehran Department of Oil products Distribution Company, said 6.954 billion liters of oil products were consumed in the city in the first ten months of the current Iranian fiscal year (Mar. 21, 2014-Jan. 20, 2015), Iran's Shana news agency reported on Feb. 16.

Some 4.194 billion liters of gasoline, including 3.736 billion liters of premium gasoline, were consumed in the city, a 3 percent rise year on year, he added.

However, 2.541 billion liters of gas oil and 25.957 million liters of kerosene were consumed in the 10-month period, showing 13 percent and 52 percent decline respectively, he noted.

Moreover, 192.6 million liters of fuel oil and 178.3 million liters of LPG were consumed in the mentioned period of time.

Mansour Riyahi, Deputy Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, said on Jan. 8 that some 260 million liters of gasoline, kerosene, gas oil, fuel oil, and liquefied gas were consumed on average per day in the country since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2014).

Tehran and other major Iranian cities have been hit by air pollution several times over the past months.

Last June, Iran began distributing Euro-4 premium gasoline, which meets European fuel quality standards, in a number of large cities.
