Iran’s steel ingot output rises by 10%

About 13.832 million tons of crude steel was produced in Iran during the nine-month period from March 20 to Dec. 21, 2016.

The figure shows a rise by 10 percent compared to the same period last year, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said Jan. 16.

A major raw steel producer of Iran, Mobarakeh Steel Company produced 5.514 million tons of crude steel during the period, followed by the Khuzestan Steel Company with about 2.687 million tons, the Isfahan Foundry with 1.715 million tons, and National Iranian Steel Company (831,687 tons).

Iranian state-run and private steel producer companies also produced about 13.446 million tons of various steel products including beam, wide sheets, hot rolled sheets, galvanized steel and tubes during the 9-month period of the current year, indicating a slight fall compared to 13.483 million tons of products in the same period of the preceding year.

Based on a 2025 outlook, Iran’s steel output is to reach 55 million tons, 15 million of which should be exported. For the current Iranian year, it is predicted that Iran will produce 18 million tons of steel, exporting 6 million tons of it.
