Two men have died as a result of an accident on the 'Guneshli' field, being developed by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the official website of SOCAR reports on Monday.
The accident took place on the 'Gunashli-3' offshore platform on Saturday during a work-over in the well when an accident, details as yet undisclosed, took place, killing boring master Nemat Gozalov and assistant boring master Fikret Gaziyev.
According to the report, work-over is a daily production process and all company employees are aware of the safety rules to be followed during the repair work.
Preliminary investigation has shown that all the company's employees, involved in work-over, including Mr. Gozalov and Mr. Gaziyev, used appropriate safeguarding means.
A joint commission of the State Labor Inspectorate, the State Republican Committee of Trade Unions of Employees of the Oil and Gas Industry of Azerbaijan and SOCAR has been set up to investigate the cause of the accident.
