Another event to destry a large consignment of drugs seized during special operations conducted by law enforcement and military authorities of Turkmenistan was held in Kasamly Dzhulge near Ashgabat, Turkmen Dovlet khabarlary reported.
'This event, organised by the government, the State Coordination Commission on Drug Abuse under the Cabinet of Ministers and the State Service on Drugs, was another clear demonstration of the determination of the Turkmen state and society to confront one of the most dangerous challenges to mankind today', the media reported.
Representatives of leading international organisations including the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the OSCE and representatives of accredited diplomatic missions and missions of public organisations witnessed the destruction of more than 635 kilogrammes of drugs.
The drugs packed in plastic bags, sacks and marked parcels were shown to the participants before the beginning of the destruction.
It is stated in the information that everyone could personally send packages of dangerous smuggled goods into the furnace of special ovens which are built to an impressive size and constructed of refractory bricks in accordance with international standards.
According to the rules, the entire process was controlled by law enforcement agencies and authorised experts.
