Military buildup in the region shows that despite Iran's recent flexibility and openness to a diplomatic route to the resolution of its nuclear issue , the U.S. is making preparations for a possible military action against Iran in the future, independent analyst on Iran, Abolghasem Bayyenat told Trend.

The expert added that United States is not sincere in pursuing a diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear program. He noted that militarization in the region has adverse effects on the resolution of Iran's nuclear issue and on regional security.

"In the longer run, military buildups will provoke further arms race in the volatile region of the Persian Gulf and generate domestic support in Iran for the further expansion of Islamic Republic's nuclear program," Bayyenat said.

The expert believes further militarization will only further question the sincerity of Western powers in Iranian eyes in their diplomatic engagement with the Islamic Republic.

"The atmosphere of mistrust between the U.S. and Iran to be more compounded, thus making the settlement of the nuclear dispute between the two sides more difficult," Bayyenat noted.

The expert also thinks that increased military threats against Iran will force it to engage in military exercises in the strategic region of the Persian Gulf.

"Iran can carry out military exercises in the Gulf to show its military might for deterrence purposes," Bayyenat said. "This in turn would compound the insecurity of its vulnerable Arab neighbors and send shocks to an already shaky world economy by endangering the security of energy flow in the Strait of Hormuz".

Iranian officials have recently expressed negativity towards the deployment of F-22 Raptor fighter jets in UAE. Iran's Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the deployment threatens regional security, adding that this move only shatters the stability of the region.

Rapporteur of Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Kazem Jalali said the same thing, condemning the F-22 deployment, adding that it was a "US-Zionist move".

The parliament rapporteur noted regional peace and security would be established if all regional countries are united, as adding the presence of major powers as well as stockpiling weapons inside the region would insecure the area.
