Some 170 Iranian MPs have issued a statement, expressing support and thanks to Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the country's nuclear negotiation team, ISNA news agency reported on Dec. 4.

The statement was read at the open session of Iranian parliament today.

The MPs have underlined Iran's right for peaceful nuclear activities as well as uranium enrichment.

They also validated Iranian president Hassan Rouhani`s foreign policy, calling it successful in eliminating "irrational excuses of arrogant powers" in the Geneva nuclear deal.

Iran and the six world powers reached a breakthrough deal early on Nov. 24 on Tehran's nuclear programme. The two sides have signed a joint 'plan of action'. The deal signed in Geneva suggests some softening on sanctions against Iran.

The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon, something Iran denies.

The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical research instead.
