Five crew people have been killed in an explosion, during the shooting of "Merajiha" film in Iran, ISNA news agency reported on Jan. 8.

The report said a hand bomb exploded in a car, killing the special effects supervisor of the film, Javad Sharifi, along with other crew members. Two more people were injured as a result of the blast.

The director of "Merajiha" is a famous conservative filmmaker Masoud Dehnamaki.

He was a managing director of Do-Kouheh, Jebheh, Shalamcheh, Ansar-e Hezbollah weekly newspapers, and Sobh magazine - all close to conservative ideology.

In 2002 Dehnamaki started his career as a filmmaker by "Poverty and Prostitution", a documentary on prostitution that traces its roots to the evils of poverty.

In 2004 Dehnamaki directed "Which Blue, Which Red" (2004).

Massoud Dehnamaki's debut 2006 feature film "Ekhrajiha (The Outcasts)" set a box-office record in Iran.

His most recent film, "Ekhrajijha 3" ("Outcasts 3") (2011), is a political comedy. The film turned out to be a box-office success, breaking another record for the most selling film in Iran's history.
