The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) on Saturday welcomes the United Nations resolution ordering a no-fly zone over Libya, dpa reported.
At a meeting in Riyadh, the 58-strong group said it was absolutely unacceptable to attack civilians with fighter planes and bombs.
The OIC also encouraged its members to establish contact with the unofficial Libyan rebel leadership in Benghazi.
But the group ruled out any military action by its own members on Libyan soil.
