Turkey is actively working to resolve the situation in Syria, but Ankara's military intervention in Syria is not a subject up for discussion, the Turkish president's advisor for Middle Eastern affairs Ershad Hurmuzlu told Trend on Monday.
"Turkey is holding talks with the region's countries to stop violence in Syria and peacefully trying to resolve the crisis," Mr Hurmuzlu said.
The Arab League States' foreign ministers decided on Sunday to urge the UNSC to send an observer mission to Syria under the joint control of the UN and the League and suspend activities of the previous mission to Syria. The advisor said the next meeting on the crisis will be held at Ankara's initiative in Tunisia on Feb 24.
It was planned that meeting the 'Friends of Syria' will be held in Istanbul but later it was decided to held it in Tunisia, Mr Hurmuzlu said.
"It is very important that all countries participating in this meeting understand how important their mission is and do their best to stop bloodshed and establish stability in Syria," he noted.
Anti-government demonstrations have been held in Syria since March 2011. Reports are made daily bout killed civilians and law enforcement members being killed.
According to the UN, the total number of victims exceeded 5000. Syrian authorities said that over 2000 military and law enforcement members were killed in the clashes with the armed opposition.
On Feb 4, Russia and China vetoed a U.N. resolution on Syria. It was the second time Russia and China as UNSC permanent members vetoed Syrian resolutions saying they contained unacceptable wording.
