An Israeli airstrike Saturday in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah wounded two Palestinian militants riding a motorcycle, medics and witnesses said, dpa reported.

Gaza emergency spokesman Adham Abu Selmeya told reporters that the two casualties were taken to Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah.

"One of them is in critical conditions, and the other is in moderate conditions," Abu Selmeya said.

Witnesses and security sources said that an Israeli drone fired one missile at the moving motorcycle carrying the two militants, described as members of the pro-Hamas Popular Resistance Committees (PRC).

The Hamas-ruled territory witnessed a wave of violence early last month between Israeli forces and Gaza militant groups, with 26 Palestinians killed and 80 wounded in five days fighting.
