Former Georgian PM’s wife organises protest

Tbilisi, Georgia, Dec.19

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

The spouse of Georgia's former Prime Minister Tamar Salakaya is going to organise a protest in front of the main Prosecutor's Office today at 12:30.

Vano Merabishvili's statement about having been interrogated at night and pressures placed on him from the chief prosecutor shows that the authorities have moved to the Soviet methods of the '30s, Salakaya wrote on her Facebook page.

Moreover, since the appointment of Georgia's new chief prosecutor, Salakaya was not allowed to see her husband.

"And I consider this as a pressure from the prosecutor's office on political prisoner Vano Merabishvili and his family," Tamar Salakaya wrote and called everyone to gather in front of the main prosecutor's office and protest against the action of the authorities.
