Average rate on manat deposits in Azerbaijani banks decrease

As of 1 March 2009, the average deposit rate in manat was 11.35 percent compared 11.57 percent as of 1 February and 11.27 percent as of beginning of March 2008, said the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The average deposit rate in foreign currency amounted to 9.01 percent compared to 8.2 percent and 10.15 percent respectively. 
As of March 1, the average deposit rate of physical entities in manat made up 12.38 percent compared to 12.54 percent as of the beginning of January and 12.33 percent as of 1 March 2008. 

With deflation of 1.4 percent during January-February, the real rate was 13.78 percent. Average deposit rate from retail clients in foreign currencies amounted to 12.35 percent compared to 12.36 percent, 12.43 percent and 12.67 percent respectively.

As of beginning of March the average deposit rate of legal entities in manat totaled 9.1 percent compared to 9.49 percent as of February 1, 9.48 percent as of January 1, 2009 and 9.54 percent as of March 1, 2008. The real rate was 10.5 percent. Average deposit rate of corporate clients in foreign currency amounted to 5.6 percent compared to 5.52 percent, 5.4 percent and 6.62 percent respectively.
