Azerbaijani state authorities move to licensed software
Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.23 /Trend H.Veliyev/
Government agencies of Azerbaijan completely move to licensed versions of Microsoft products, the Ultra company said on Monday.
The project was implemented by Ultra with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, and Microsoft, in accordance with the formal agreement signed between the Azerbaijani government and Microsoft on May 2010.
According to the document, all state agencies covered by the agreement must use licensed software.
The agreement was signed in order to reduce the level of pirated software use in the country. Under the agreement, the government of Azerbaijan assumes the obligation to create an e-Government online service (the concept of Electronic Government) in order to reduce the risks associated with using pirated software, and thereby to improve the quality of services provided to citizens, business representatives and civil servants.
Currently the work on introducing licensed Microsoft products in government agencies of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic is being implemented.
