The integration process of Azerspace satellite payload with a platform is controlled by "Azerkosmos" company and Canadian technical monitoring company Telesat, which has been chosen as Azerbaijan's consultant for producing and launching the satellite, the company told Trend today.

"Azerkosmos" company's employee and Telesat's two employees are at the satellite production plant Orbital Sciences Corporation to closely familiarize with the satellite construction process.

"The Azerspace satellite payload, being built on the STAR-2 platform, consists of 36 transponders (24 C-band transponders and 12 Ku-band transponders). The frequency of each transponder is 36 MHz. The satellite exploitation term in orbit will hit up to 15 years.

The weight of the satellite will hit 3,300 pounds, the company said.

The satellite will be launched into a geostationary orbit 46 degrees east longitude, leased from the Malaysian company Measat Satellite Systems, owned by the Malaysian government. Azerspace's service area will include the countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia and North Africa.

Azerbaijan's telecommunication satellite Azerspace is designed to render digital broadcasting services, Internet access, data transmission, to create multiservice networks VSAT and governmental communication.

"The Ariane-5 missile-carrier construction operations are conducted according to the schedule," the company said. "The missile-carrier construction operations will be completed as scheduled. The satellite will be launched into orbit in the fourth quarter from Kourou space launch centre (Guiana Space Centre), which is located on the north-eastern South America, French Guiana."
