Azerbaijan, Baku, May 14 / Trend H. Valiyev /

Monitoring results of television content broadcast in Baku hotels have shown that the majority of them broadcast TV content illegally, Nur Dunyasi Company authorised representative Islam Bagirov told Trend today.

He added that the Nur Dunyasi Company has exclusive rights to broadcast 54 television channels in the Azerbaijani cable operators' network.

"It is inexpedient to disconnect the hotels offering illegal broadcasting of TV content because the guests will be those mainly affected," he said. "Cable TV in Azerbaijan has been developing for the past five years. I think that we will do this gradually. The work will be continued to broadcast the legal content after the Eurovision-2012 song contest.

Executive director of the Azerbaijani cable operator association Ali Aliyev told Trend earlier that complex solutions will be offered to the hotels to legalise television content at reasonable prices and within the law.

"First of all, reasonable tariffs will be offered," he said. "For example, the Russian TV channel, Public Russian Television (ORT), which has a package of more than 20 channels, offers each channel in a hotel room at $20 per month. This is a fairly high amount."

The cost of legal TV content for each room is planned to hit six-seven manat per month.
The official exchange rate is 0.7859 AZN/USD on May 14.
