The Azerbaijani B & BTV Communications cable television operator has signed an agreement with the French Thomson Broadcast to supply equipment for deploying digital broadcasting in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, manager of marketing department at B & BTV Communications Samir Mahmudov told Trend on Friday.
"Transmitters for deploying a commercial digital package will be installed on Duzdag TV and radio station, located near Nakhchivan city," Mahmudov said.
The same equipment will also be used in the rest stations located in the village of Ibadullah, Sharur region, Deste village, Ordubad region and Sederek region to expand the coverage of a digital social package through Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Functional characteristics of the equipment purchased by a cable operator will allow passing to the second generation of the European standard air (terrestrial) digital TV DVB-T2 through modernization in the future.
Today, a social digital package including all republic-wide TV channels, the Turkish TRT and two local TV channels is available for the Nakhchivan population.
