Nakhchivan will be the capital of Islamic culture in 2018, Azerbaijani Minister of Labour and Social Protection Fizuli Alakbarov said Tuesday during a meeting in Baku of the representatives of the Labor Ministries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today.
He said that earlier, Baku was declared the capital of Islamic culture for 2009.
The Ministerial Conference of the OIC member-states will be held in Baku on April 25-26.
"This conference confirms the active support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to resolve poverty problems in member-states and to ensure social stability to implement active policy in this area," he added.
He added that the conference will create the conditions to form a mechanism for cooperation among OIC member-states. The approval of the framework document following the conference, as well as the resolution and the Baku Declaration is an official confirmation of creating such a mechanism, the minister said.
