Manufacturer of second Azerbaijani satellite to be determined in February

U.S. companies show an interest in constructing the Azerbaijani second telecommunications satellite - Azerspace- 2, Azerkosmos at the Communications and IT Ministry told Trend on Monday.
A few producers (mostly U.S. companies, which have not been disclosed) are involved in a closed tender for the satellite construction announced in 2013, the company said.
"The results of the tender announced by Azerkosmos as part of the second satellite program will be announced by late February," the company said.
U.S Orbital Sciences Corporation is a manufacturer of the first satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1a.
The Azerspace/Africasat-1a was launched at the ELA-3 Launch Complex of the Guiana Space Center on February 8, 2013 on an Ariane 5 ECA rocket made by the French company Ariansepace.
The Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite covers Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
The satellite is designed to provide digital TV and radio service, Internet access, data transmission, VSAT multi service networks and governmental communications.
The Azerbaijani second satellite program will also have a commercial character. The Azerbaijani telecommunications satellite Azerspace-2 will also be designed to render the above-mentioned services.
