Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 26

By Temkin Jafarov - Trend:

Azerbaijan can become a bridge for trade development between Iran and Russia and this fruitful cooperation will benefit all three countries, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Iranian province of Gilan Hadi Tizhush Taban told Trend in Baku Sept. 25.

"At present, the trade cooperation among Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia is at a high level," he said. "However, Azerbaijan and Iran have the potential for the further development of trade relations with Russia."

He said that if the bilateral relations between Iran and Azerbaijan further expand, the two countries can cooperate more closely with Russia in the field of export and import.

Taban said that the North-South and TRACECA international transport corridors pass through Azerbaijan.

"These transportation corridors reduce transportation time and their costs," he said. "This makes the transit of goods more profitable."

He informed about Iran's broad opportunities in the production of agricultural products.

"Russia greatly needs Iranian agricultural products," he said. "The volumes of these products supplied by Azerbaijani businessmen to Russia can be increased."

While establishing the joint ventures, Azerbaijani and Iranian entrepreneurs can export products to Russia.

"In this context, it is necessary to take actions to export Azerbaijani and Iranian products to Russia more rapidly, to facilitate the paperwork and to reduce customs costs," he said.
