Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic will review the prospects for the development of economic relations, a diplomatic source in Azerbaijan told Trend.
The next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will focus on the possibilities of development of cooperation between the two countries in trade, economic, construction, transport spheres, said the source.
The Czech side is interested in participation in the projects that are being implemented in Azerbaijan's transport sector, according to the source.
"Several Czech companies show interest in Azerbaijan's transport sector," Azerbaijan's ambassador to Czech Republic Farid Shafiyev earlier said. "Negotiations are underway on the participation of Czech companies in the project for construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway."
He said Czech companies operate in Azerbaijan and are fulfilling the contracts worth of nearly $1 billion in total. The contract worth of $300 million in total for the construction of Baku-Guba highway has already been fulfilled.
The diplomat said that Czech companies also show interest in participation in the project for construction of one of the lines of the Baku Metro. The negotiations on this issue are underway.
The Czech government also pins high hopes on the expansion of the presence of Czech companies in construction, mechanical engineering and transport infrastructure spheres in Azerbaijan, said the ambassador.
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Czech Republic stood at $637.97 million in Jan.-Dec. 2014, according to Azerbaijan's State Statistical Committee.
