The US imported 3.05 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in January-August 2015 or 27.2 percent less than in the same period of 2014, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.
The US imported 4.2 million barrels of Azerbaijani oil in the same period of 2014.
The US imported 8.4 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in 2014 compared to 10.41 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in 2013.
The main export route for the transportation of Azerbaijani oil is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline via which oil is delivered to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
Azerbaijan's light oil is also exported from Georgia's Supsa port where it is delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.
Moreover, oil is also exported from Georgia's Batumi port in the Black Sea where it is delivered via the railway from Baku, as well as from the Novorossiysk port via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
