Remittances to Azerbaijan decrease by over one third

In January-September 2015, remittances of individuals from foreign countries to Azerbaijan amounted to $1.64 billion, which is 37.88 percent less than in the same period last year

In January-September 2015, remittances of individuals from foreign countries to Azerbaijan amounted to $1.64 billion, which is 37.88 percent less than in the same period last year, according to the balance of payments on the result of the first three quarters of 2015 posted on the website of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

For comparison, in January-September 2014, remittances of individuals from foreign countries to Azerbaijan amounted to $2.64 billion.

Remittances of physical persons to Azerbaijan in January-September 2015 amounted to 96.7 percent of total revenues from secondary income, according to the balance of payments.

In January-September 2015, the total value of transactions of Azerbaijan with foreign countries on the secondary income amounted to $1.7 billion, which is 39.29 percent less than in the same period last year. Some 55 percent of them fall on receipts to the country.

The cost of humanitarian goods imported into Azerbaijan for the period amounted to 1.9 percent, while other receipts amounted to 1.4 percent.

A surplus emerged on transactions with secondary income of Azerbaijan, which amounted to $167.6 million.
