Azerbaijan is buying six vessels for their operation in the Black and Mediterranean seas, read a message of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company issued Apr. 4.

Three vessels will be given to the company's disposal on Apr.11, and the remaining three - by the end of the month, according to the message.

Vessels of 5,500 tons' displacement were designed in Russia and are similar by their type to the "Natavan" and "Uzeyir Hajibeyov" vessels, which were procured in 2014.

"The tasks set for the conversion of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company into a modern company that meets international standards, have made inevitable the process of stationing the flotilla, as well as increasing the number of vessels used in the Black and Mediterranean seas," said the message.

"Currently, crews of the vessels are being formed. Azerbaijani seamen are able to adequately represent the country in international waters," according to the message.

Currently, the company's transport fleet consists of 98 vessels, including 34 tankers, 13 ferries, 14 universal bulk carriers, two RO-RO vessels, as well as 35 technical and auxiliary vessels.
