The Uzbek Foreign Trade Ministry has developed a draft resolution of the Uzbekistan president aimed at simplifying procedures for transit through the country, building reliable transport transit corridors and increasing the flow of transit traffic.
The document provides for the cancellation of the procedure for obtaining permission from the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan for the transit through the customs territory of Uzbekistan of alcohol and tobacco products.
Furthermore, it excludes the need for the carrier to deposit the entire amount of monetary security for payment of the corresponding customs duties (customs duty, excise tax, VAT) to the deposit account of the customs authorities of Uzbekistan with subsequent return of the amounts deposited after confirmation of the fact of export from Uzbekistan.
This order was established by Presidential Decree dated October 4, 2007 "On measures to further streamline transit of certain types of excisable goods through the territory of Uzbekistan" of alcohol and tobacco products by road and rail.
Due to the adoption of the above-mentioned document, since 2007, the transit of alcohol and tobacco products has not been practically implemented through the territory of Uzbekistan.
The adoption of the new resolution is expected to greatly simplify the procedures for transit through the territory of Uzbekistan and serve as an impetus for further increase in the volume of transportation.
